13 Jul [MI] Seller wants to stay past occupancy date.
Hello. First time home buyers. We closed on our house in June and gave the sellers free occupancy through July 31st (hot market). The seller recently told me their new construction is delayed and they may need to push things back. What can we do if they decide to stay past the date? Can we charge them rent? Our contract just states that if they stay past the 31st they need to pay double the occupancy rate… which is 0 at the moment.
Edit: To clarify some more details. There is a hard date for them to get out (July 31st). I guess the confusion is what happens if they ask to stay longer. My contract looks to just have the usual language copy and pasted in it, "double the occupancy rate." But right now the occupancy rate is free.
